365 Days of Pinterest Day 24 ~ DIY ZOMBIE schoolgirl costume!!!

365 Days of Pinterest Day 24 ~ DIY ZOMBIE schoolgirl costume!!!

ahhh Halloween, I love it so much I even gave birth to my daughter on Oct 31! My little pumpkin .. This costume was actually from last Halloween, but it is my favorite so I want to share... I found a pin on pinteret for the Zombie schoolgirl .. it was a costume from Spirit Halloween.  Of course the skirt was much shorter and the shirt was hiked up past the belly button .. so I scowered the second hand stores in my neighborhood and loved what I came out with

What you'll need
-'Zombie' Contact Lenses from Spirit Halloween ... you can also purchase them here
-plaid skirt
-white button up
-tall white socks
-little jacked
-neck tie
-fake blood.  I like this kit because it has the blood you can put in your mouth and alo the blood you can splatter on your cloth
-I used this flesh latex makeup on my hubby .. really easy to use
- white grey red and black makeup for shading

original costume from Spirit

The contacts are what really made the costume complete.  There are some cheaper brands then the link I provided above, but they are not as thick so the color is not as strong.  Its worth it to invest in the good ones, not only for the color, but they are thicker and less likely to tear .. they also last for 3 years if stored properly where the others last for 21 day ..

face .. I started with my normal makeup and then applied white and grey to my skin .. black and then red around the eyes .. black at the cheekbone for the unkin in look .. then comes the blood .. I flicked it on my face for the splattered I just bit into a juicy leg effect and then dripped it out of my mouth.

the steps are pretty basic ... cut up your close creating frays and jagged edged .. splatter with blood ... wa laaaaa!!

I ate my husband wish didn't make much sense because zombies dont eat zombies .. but ok

my sister in law is awesome!!!

this was my daughters dead rag doll costume from a few years back .. pretty fun ")

Paint brushes .. big ones from the dollar store will do
a cupcake tin

Start by mixing one part water and one part corn startch in a big bowl ...

I let my nieces and nephews do this in the backyard .. I think mixing the concoctioin was just as fun if not more fun then actually painting with it ..

mix mix mix

put your 'paint' in a cupcake baking tin

drop in your food color .. do you know that McCormick and Betty Crocker both have neon food coloring!!!!  Perfect!

stir stir stir

 paint away

at first you may think that its not working as it will look a little translucent and lack color ..

but as it dries ... then the real color comes out

 .... Pants are optional

.... Dogs are a must

Pretty :)

Verdict .. great pin .. fun and easy, really works well .. very cheap and easy to clean ..

Easy Crock Pot Beef Stew (also Vegetarian Recipe)

We are getting our home ready to sell .. today my dad and hubby are busy putting in a new bathtub and Im painting so I wanted to make something quick and easy ... hearty, and ready to serve .. hence my Easy Crock pot beef stew choice.  My daughter and I are veggies so Im including a vegetarian version as well .. :)

1 packet of Lipton dry onion soup
2 Can Campbells Cream of Mushroom Soup
4 - 6 potatoes cut into cubes
4 Large Carrots
1 (8oz) can Tomato Sauce
1 (10oz) package frozen green peas (dont worry, they wont get mushy)
Veggie Beef ..

Put beef cubes on the bottom of the crock pot.  Layer carrots, potatoes & peas on top.

mix together cream of mushroom soup and tomato sauce

pour your mixture on top.  Cover and cook on low for 6 hours (I was in a rush so I knocked it up to high for hour 3 and 4 reducing cooking time to 4.5 hours)

finished!!  Smellls sooooo good!

I always feel like somebodys watching me ;)

Verdict .. as I always say ... Easy is good and this was easy!  Both versions of the stew, beef and vegetarian were AMAZING!!!   big thumbs up big YUM!!!

365 Days Of Pinterest Day 18 - DIY Pretty Lace Bowls

DIY Pretty Lace Bowls

Day 18 of my
365 Days of Pintetest I chose the pretty lace bowl pin ...

say Hello to my little friend ... Hope ... and my new nesting tables! :)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
~Doilies (I found mine and the local second hand store
~balloons
~ Glue ( I used Elmers & Aileens)
~ food coloring if you want to color them

First I dyed my doilie .. I love blue.  A few drops of food coloring and warm water will do .. pop the doilies in the dryer to set the color.

wear gloves :)

mix your glue and water.  I tweaked the original pin.  I used 3 TBS glue to 6 TSP water.

Dipity Do.  Soak your doilies in the glue solution real good.

Blow up your balloon to the desired bowl size and lay your doily on top.  I placed my balloon in a bowl for support.

pay attention to spread out the ends so you can see the pretty design.

now wait for your doilies to dry .. I actually waited 24 hours to be safe.

 POP!

wa laaa

I love seeing the details to each different doily .. like a snowflake

Verdict .. Fun, Easy and pretty.

I love the results!!  I also made the doily lantern wich was equally as fun and easy .. will blog that as well ..
